A 70-year history and four friends
Antica Trattoria Muranese, located in Riva Longa, is the oldest trattoria in Murano, Venice. It is a romantic trattoria with breathtaking views of Murano’s iconic Grand Canal and a charming garden where you can relax for a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of Venice.
A 70-year history and four friends
This trendy trattoria boasts a tradition dating back over 70 years. Made famous on the island of Murano by a curious anecdote, in the 1950s Italy began broadcasting the first black and white television programs on RAI (the Italian national network). At the time, however, television was a novelt and not everyone could afford one due to its high cost. The Antica Trattoria was the only place on the island of Murano to have such an innovative device at the time, thus becoming the only place to gather to watch the first programs, such as the news and shows, and soon becoming a real social meeting place for the islanders.
Even today, after 70 years, conviviality and familiarity are still at home here. Bringing all this back to life are four close friends who have known each other forever (Alessandro, Andrea, Francesca, and Paolo), who, with dedication and experience gained in the Ho.Re.Ca and seafood sectors, have masterfully contributed to renovating the kitchen and its surroundings, making it a unique place to sip Spritz in Rivalonga while admiring picturesque sunsets, but also to taste their authentic Italian seafood cuisine in a modern location with a thousand-year-old garden.
A unique way to enjoy a trip to Venice and good food!

OUR SINGULAR FOOD VISION

We have always loved the culinary world, and in our restaurant we combine our passion for good food with thirty years of experience to offer our local, national, and international customers authentic Italian cuisine from the Adriatic lagoon and its hinterland.
Our Italian cuisine is a combination of traditions linked to the Venice Lagoon and the Adriatic coast, characterized by the use of fresh fish, early produce, and local products. It reflects the history and culture of our region. with Venetian influences and a strong focus on seasonal ingredients. Our dishes retain all the flavor of traditional cuisine and are prepared using a supply chain that begins with the selection of fresh fish at the fish auction followed by the selection of strictly seasonal ingredients from the hinterland, and culminates in a wine cellar with over 100 Italian and foreign labels, with a particular focus on local wines.
Our menu features typical Venetian cuisine, ranging from the first fruits of the lagoon to local fish such as sea bass, sea bream, sole, cuttlefish, squid mussels, clams, eel, crab, and blue fish (sardines, mackerel), all of which from the basis of our cuisine.
Our specialties range from elaborate fish dishes such as our “Tagliatelle alla pescatora” (Tagliatelle with seafood) for two person, or the “Grigliata di mare” (mix Grilled sea fish) for two person and the Carbonara di mare, all prized for their unique flavor, to meat dishes. Venetian specialties such as baccalà mantecato (creamed salt cod), sarde e gamberoni in saor (sardines and prawns in sauce), homemade fish soup, and fegato alla veneziana (Venetian-style liver) are not to be missed. And to finish, our homemade Murano desserts, such as Bussolà (fishermen’s biscuits), Venetian carnival fritters, gourmet spoon desserts, and the iconic Tiramisù.
Hi, I’m Paolo, and at Antica Trattoria Muranese, I personally select the fish that accompanies most of our menu items. I was a fisherman in the Adriatic Sea for over 20 years, and thanks to my experience on the water, I know how to recognize and guarantee the quality of an excellent catch.
My member Andrea has also been with me for over seven years, managing a renowned fishmonger’s shop. We both breathe and love the world of fish, an experience that today allows us to refine our fish specialties at Antica Trattoria Muranese, where Alessandro and Francesca, our other two memebers, have also been working in the Horeca sector for several years.
We want to stand out on the island for the quality and careful pairing of our ingredients, which enhance the flavor of our dishes and set us apart on the island of Murano. Our iconic dishes include “Tagliatelle with sea food” and “Mix grilled sea fish” (both for two person) and our house fish soup, served at the table in front of diners with warm bread croutons.
Have we sparked your curiosity?
We look forward to seeing you from February to November at Fondamenta Rivalonga, 20 in Murano.
Paolo, Alessandro, Andrea e Francesca.
